The David Hanna Foundation promotes awareness of self-taught 20th-century artist David Hanna (1941 – 1981) and fosters an understanding and appreciation of his work in the context of American art history.
Key initiatives
Publish a catalogue raisonné of David Hanna’s body of work featuring high-resolution images, provenance, exhibition history and bibliographic references.
Create and maintain searchable digital and physical archives of artworks and primary source materials including photographs, objects and ephemera related to the artistic legacy of David Hanna.
Provide a space for scholars of American art to view archives and conduct research on the artist.
Support art scholars and organizations that educate the broader public through research, exhibitions and publications.
Facilitate artwork loans from the Foundation and private lenders for exhibitions in museums and other public spaces.
Maintain a public website communicating the legacy of David Hanna, his artwork and the efforts of the Foundation.
